Why Expertise Isn&#8217;t Enough to Build a Successful Wellness Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"buzzsprout-player-19496892\"><\/div><script src=\"https:\/\/www.buzzsprout.com\/1739894\/episodes\/19496892-170-why-expertise-isn-t-enough-to-build-a-successful-wellness-business.js?container_id=buzzsprout-player-19496892&#038;player=small\" type=\"text\/javascript\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can spend twenty years becoming exceptional at what you do and still struggle to build a successful wellness business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because you lack expertise.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But because expertise isn&#8217;t what clients buy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one of the biggest misconceptions I see across our industry. We believe that if we&#8217;re knowledgeable enough, experienced enough, or qualified enough, clients will naturally come.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, that&#8217;s rarely how it works.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you&#8217;re a wellness leader thinking about consulting, a visiting practitioner building your own business, or a wellness professional ready for something more, there comes a moment when expertise stops being enough.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that&#8217;s the moment this episode is about.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years I&#8217;ve worked with hundreds of wellness professionals: spa directors, visiting practitioners, consultants and coaches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They all had something in common.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were exceptional at what they did.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet they were struggling to build a business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some blamed marketing and the economy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others blamed the hoteliers who simply, in their minds, \u201cdon\u2019t get wellness\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several believed there were simply too many consultants.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But underneath all of those reasons was a much bigger false belief.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were trying to build a business using the same mindset that had made them successful as employees or freelancers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s why I wanted to bring this conversation back.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although I originally recorded this several months ago, I believe the message is even more relevant today than when I first shared it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this episode you&#8217;ll learn:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1.
