Based on this approach, and focusing on interior spaces, there are four points that we would like to share that need to be taken into account when working with different materials, and more importantly, their textures.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Difference between visual and tactile texture<\/strong><\/p>\n Everything has a texture. When we touch different objects, we feel sensations that are not always about touching, and that are kept locked up somewhere in our memory. However, when we see a particular texture from a distance, without getting our hand closer, we get some psychical emotions. Hence the importance of both tactile and visual texture. Tactile texture is obvious.\u00a0 Visual texture, however, is sometimes overlooked.\u00a0 It is only with light and colour that the atmosphere of a particular space will be determined.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Relationship between texture \/ light, and texture \/ colour<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong>When designing interiors, one should take into account three basic concepts; light, colour and texture, as all three are closely related and dependent on each other.<\/p>\n Texture becomes even more important with a monochromatic palette. If we pick out the same surface finishing on the materials we choose, the result could be flat and boring. However, mixing opposite textures is always effective in these situations. The more risk we take, the more exciting the result will be.\u00a0 We should not, however, forget the use, and the fact that the overall result must be harmonious.<\/p>\n As for its relationship with light, we have some basic ideas, like rough surfaces to absorb the light, while the polished ones to act like mirrors. In the same way, smooth surfaces make the colour appear lighter, while textured ones, make it appear darker.\u00a0 Other subtleties, such as the position of a window, and the material used in the areas next to it, are also important.\u00a0 Shadows accentuate texture.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The functional side of texture<\/strong><\/p>\n The materials used in a space must always be conditioned by the use they will have. While there are rooms that play a neutral role in terms of the activity to be carried in them where different design solutions are possible, there are others where \u201cthe skin\u201d, and the feelings it generates, will be the first thing to consider.<\/p>\n For general work areas, where a hygienic and tidy look are important, smooth surfaces should be considered.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n We should not forget the temperature of materials and how we employ them depending on their function. Smooth materials like stone, which may appear to give a cold look at first sight, will not give us that impression if we think, for example, of worktops in treatment rooms, where they probably will be the most hygienic option, as therapists will be handling products on them.<\/p>\n Materials such as cotton or wool should not only be considered for sheets and towels.\u00a0 Different types of fabrics may be used to dress walls thereby adding a warm look to the area.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Texture and its influence on the sound of a space<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong>Another point to consider is the acoustic behaviour of material, following a very simple guide: the rougher the material, the better the acoustics. Depending on the use of a particular space and its surrounding areas, this is of vital importance, as smooth walls, with no shapes that break their homogeneity, will produce a reverberation of sound, something that is extremely uncomfortable in rooms where good acoustic absorption is required.<\/p>\n The field of materials is vast, and is one of the determining factors in the visual impact of our facilities. We should not just think about shapes when we talk about design, but also on what they are covered by. We are beings that want and need immediate sensations. We perceive what we see and what we touch, and in both situations, visual and tactile texture, with all their nuances, will make the design of our facility a success or a failure.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n En un momento en el que en dise\u00f1o, todo parece estar inventado, si ponemos nuestra vista en grandes proyectos internacionales, podemos ver que \u00e9stos no innovan en cuanto a forma, pero s\u00ed en cuanto a materiales. Parece que, a d\u00eda de hoy, es la piel del edificio quien le da entidad.<\/p>\n Nombres como Herzog & de Meuron, han hecho de esa idea, su filosof\u00eda de estudio. Proyectos como el Allianz Arena, en Munich, el Estadio Nacional de Pek\u00edn, o las Bodegas Dominus, en California, encuentran su personalidad en su envolvente. Sus materiales son su se\u00f1a de identidad.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Bas\u00e1ndonos en este enfoque, y centr\u00e1ndonos en espacios interiores, hay cuatro puntos que nos gustar\u00eda destacar, a la hora de trabajar con diferentes materiales, y lo que los define; su textura.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Diferencia entre textura visual y t\u00e1ctil<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong>Todo tiene textura. Cuando tocamos diferentes objetos, experimentamos sensaciones que no siempre est\u00e1n relacionadas en el tacto, y que se guardan en nuestra memoria, sin necesidad de repetir ese gesto.\u00a0 Sin embargo, cuando vemos una textura a distancia, sin acercar nuestra mano, recibimos, gracias a ella, diferentes emociones ps\u00edquicas. Es por eso, por lo que hablamos de texturas t\u00e1ctiles y visuales. Las t\u00e1ctiles son evidentes, pero no siempre reparamos en el concepto visual de las mismas, en el que nos gustar\u00eda centrarnos en este art\u00edculo, ya que es, junto con la luz y el color, quien determina la atm\u00f3sfera de un espacio.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Relaci\u00f3n entre textura \/ luz, y textura \/ color<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong>Cuando dise\u00f1amos un interior, tenemos que tener en cuenta tres factores b\u00e1sicos; luz, color, y textura, ya que los unos se deciden en funci\u00f3n de los otros.<\/p>\n La textura toma especial importancia, cuando se opta por una paleta monocrom\u00e1tica. Si eligi\u00e9semos el mismo acabado superficial en los materiales escogidos, el resultado ser\u00eda totalmente plano y aburrido. Sin embargo, mezclar texturas opuestas, es siempre un gesto efectivo en esos casos. Cuanto m\u00e1s riesgo y m\u00e1s contraste, m\u00e1s emoci\u00f3n producir\u00e1 en el observador, pero nunca olvidando su uso, y el hecho de que el resultado global debe ser armonioso.<\/p>\n En cuanto a su relaci\u00f3n con la luz, tenemos ciertos factores evidentes, como que las superficies rugosas absorben la luz, mientras que las pulidas la reflejan. Del mismo modo, las superficies lisas hacen parecer el color m\u00e1s claro, mientras que las texturizadas, le imprimen oscuridad, pero hay otras sutilezas, no siempre tomadas en cuenta, como la posici\u00f3n de una ventana, y el material que se usa en las zonas pr\u00f3ximas a ella. Las sombras acent\u00faan la textura, por lo que lo m\u00e1s acertado es poner las paredes con m\u00e1s relieve, pr\u00f3ximas al foco de luz.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n El aspecto funcional de la textura<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong>Los materiales usados en un espacio, deben estar siempre condicionados por el uso del mismo. Mientras que hay estancias en las que se desarrollar\u00e1 una funci\u00f3n neutra, que admitir\u00e1 diferentes soluciones de dise\u00f1o, existen otras, en las que la piel, y las sensaciones que transmite, ser\u00e1n el primer elemento a tener en cuenta.<\/p>\n Para los lugares de trabajo, donde necesitamos transmitir una sensaci\u00f3n higi\u00e9nica y ordenada, deberemos optar por superficies lisas.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Tampoco debemos olvidar la temperatura de los materiales, y c\u00f3mo \u00e9sta debe pesar a la hora de decantarnos por unos u otros, dependiendo de su funci\u00f3n. Materiales lisos como vidrio o piedra, resultar\u00e1n fr\u00edos, lo que puede parecer, en principio, un inconveniente, pero no nos dar\u00e1 esa impresi\u00f3n, si pensamos, por ejemplo, en encimeras en una cabina de tratamiento, donde ser\u00e1 la opci\u00f3n m\u00e1s higi\u00e9nica, ya que sobre ellas se manipular\u00e1n productos.<\/p>\n Materiales como algodones o lanas, no tienen por qu\u00e9 estar limitados a elementos como cojines o s\u00e1banas que cubran las camillas. Pueden existir en la composici\u00f3n de una tela, que vista las paredes de zonas en las que queremos transmitir una especial calidez.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Textura y su influencia en la ac\u00fastica del espacio<\/strong><\/p>\n Otro punto a tener en cuenta, es el comportamiento ac\u00fastico de los materiales, siguiendo una pauta muy sencilla; a mayor rugosidad, mejor ac\u00fastica. Seg\u00fan la funci\u00f3n del espacio, esta ser\u00e1 una premisa importante, ya que las paredes lisas, sin relieves ni formas que rompan su homogeneidad, producir\u00e1n una reverberaci\u00f3n del sonido, que ser\u00e1 verdaderamente inc\u00f3moda, en las estancias en las que la ac\u00fastica cobre importancia.<\/p>\n El campo de los materiales es inmenso, y ser\u00e1 uno de los factores determinantes en el impacto visual de nuestro negocio. No debemos limitarnos a pensar en formas cuando pensamos en dise\u00f1o, sino tambi\u00e9n en aquello que las viste. Somos de sensaciones inmediatas.
