47. How To Get Your GM To Get You

The million-dollar question for wellness leaders: How can I get my GM to GET ME?

This is a question I get asked often. And many wellness leaders might not think it out loud, but deep down, this is something they truly desire. That their GM GETS them, that their GM gets wellness.

Now, let’s now kid ourselves. We all want to be, or at least feel understood. It allows us to feel appreciated and recognised – particularly in times when things are not going the way we expect them to go. It’s as if, if they, our GM, understands how difficult the wellness business is and gets us, then we’re safe. We feel someone has our back.

Which is a fair point.

However, in today’s episode, I wanted to offer a different perspective. It’s all great if our GM gets us. But, the reality is that the only we get other people to get us is by GETTING them first.

The age-old saying of: “Seek to understand, then seek to be understood.”

So, the question then is, how can you GET your GM?
